My Beginnings

Winemaking Consultant

My passion for wine came from a decade in the restaurant industry. While working at a fine dining restaurant in La Jolla California, I had the most amazing opportunity to taste a 1953 Chateaux Margaux. This wine started me down the path of seeking excellence and precision in the craft of wine making.

My Story

My path eventually led me to the University of California, Davis, where I completed my degree in Viticulture & Enology. Outside the classroom, I dove headfirst into hands-on experience, determined to make the most of the knowledge and resources around me. I was captivated by the link between crop quality and wine quality—a curiosity that sparked a research project with a fellow classmate and the guidance of Mark Matthews, Ph.D. Together, we designed a replicated trial at the U.C. Davis Oakville Field Station, gathered data in the vineyard, harvested the fruit, and crafted wines from each treatment. That trial was more than a student project—it became the starting point of a 20-year journey devoted to creating wines of depth, harmony, and timeless elegance, evoking the grace of classics like the 1953 Château Margaux.
